Kimberly Rorabaugh Abeyta, Au.D.

Dr. Abeyta, originally from Pennsylvania, received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Science and Disorders from University of Pittsburgh in 2007 and her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Audiology from University of Pittsburgh in 2010 and 2011.  She completed her clinical residency at VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2011 specializing in adult hearing aids, aural rehabilitation and cochlear implants.  Immediately after graduating with her Doctorate in Audiology, Dr. Abeyta moved to Newport Beach, California where she specialized in vestibular (balance) diagnostic testing, vestibular (balance) rehabilitation therapy, tinnitus treatment and fitting extended-wear hearing devices.  In 2012, Dr. Abeyta joined our practice here at Hearing Resource Center and Ear, Nose & Throat and Facial Plastic Surgery Center and was appointed to Director of Audiology in 2014.  She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, a Fellow of the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA) and a member of the American Tinnitus Association (ATA).  Dr. Abeyta currently specializes in adult hearing aids and the counseling and treatment of tinnitus, however she holds special interest in vestibular assessment and rehabilitation.

In her spare time, Dr. Abeyta enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.

Dr. Williams, originally from Virginia, received her Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from James Madison University (JMU) in 2011 and her Doctorate of Audiology from JMU in 2016. While at JMU, Dr. Williams conducted clinical research on the effects of aging on the middle ear and presented her research at the American Academy of Audiology annual convention in 2015. Dr. Williams completed her fourth year audiology fellowship at Ear, Nose & Throat & Facial Plastic Surgery Center of Fredericksburg and joined the practice as a full time Audiologist in 2016. Dr. Williams is a licensed Audiologist in Virginia, a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, a member of the Speech and Hearing Association of Virginia, and holds a certificate of clinical competence in Audiology from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association. Dr. Williams enjoys improving the quality of life and communication with loved ones for her patients. She also has a special interest in pediatric audiology.

In her spare time Dr. Williams enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and reading.

 

Nina Buckley-Ess, Au.D., CCC-A - Fredericksburg Audiologist

Nina Buckley-Ess, Au.D., CCC-A

Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Buckley-Ess, originally from Virginia, received her Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Radford University in 2011 and obtained her Doctorate of Audiology from Salus University's George S. Osborne College of Audiology in 2016. Dr. Buckley-Ess completed her 4th year fellowship at the University of Virginia-Health Systems. Dr. Buckley-Ess is also our Audiology Fellow Program Coordinator. Dr. Buckley-Ess is very active with the American Academy of Audiology and is currently a member of the AudiologyNOW! 2017 Learning Modules Subcommittee. Dr. Buckley-Ess is also a member of Salus University Alumni Board Association.

In her spare time, Dr. Buckley-Ess enjoys road trips and traveling, especially to Pennsylvania to see her niece. She also enjoys spending quality time with family and friends.

 

Laura Mainelli, Au.D., CCC-A - Fredericksburg Audiologist

Laura Mainelli, Au.D., CCC-A

Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Mainelli, originally from Connecticut, received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Science and Disorders and her Doctorate in Audiology from University of Connecticut in 2013 and 2017, respectively.  She completed her clinical residency at Yale Hearing and Balance Center in New Haven, CT where she specialized in adult hearing aids, cochlear implants, and sedated auditory brainstem testing. At her time at Yale, she also worked on a literature review of current Ototoxicity Protocols and implementation. Dr. Mainelli enjoys following her patients from diagnostics to aural rehabilitation and is very passionate about Audiology. She is a fellow of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA), where she holds a Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology (CCC-A).

In her spare time, Dr. Mainelli enjoys spending time with her dog, Hank, her cat, Ash and her fiancé, Robby.

 

Zaan Ali, Au.D., CCC-A

Zaan Ali, Au.D., CCC-A

Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Ali, originally from New Jersey, received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Cell Biology & Neuroscience and African, Middle Eastern, and South Asian Languages and Literatures from Rutgers University in 2015 and his Doctoral degree in Audiology from the Northeast Ohio Au.D. Consortium in 2019. He completed his clinical residency at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland, OH, specializing in adult diagnostics and hearing aids, vestibular testing, and cochlear implants. Dr. Ali enjoys helping patients improve their quality of life and is very passionate about implementing patient-centered care. He also has a special interest in cochlear implants. He is a fellow of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA), where he holds a Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology (CCC-A).

In his spare time, Dr. Ali enjoys hiking, baking, writing, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

 

Katie Palmer, Audiology Fellow

Katie Palmer, Audiology Fellow

Ms. Palmer is originally from Sterling, Virginia. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from James Madison University in 2016. She is currently completing her last year of a four-year doctoral program in audiology from the University at Buffalo. Ms. Palmer is also currently completing a one-year audiology fellowship here at the Hearing Resource Center and Ear, Nose & Throat and Facial Plastic Surgery Center of Fredericksburg, where she will be specializing in audiological diagnostics including vestibular and electrophysiology, as well as fitting and rehabilitation of adult and pediatric hearing aids and tinnitus treatment. Ms. Palmer has previously interned in multiple medical office settings such as private practices and an oral school for children with hearing impairment. She is a member of the Student Academy of Audiology and has special interests in audiology including: hearing aids, implantable devices such as cochlear implants and bone anchored hearing aids, pediatric audiology, and vestibular testing. In her spare time, Katie enjoys running, baking, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.

 

Alissa Gable, Audiology Fellow

Ms. Gable is originally from York, Pennsylvania. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences from Clarion University of Pennsylvania in 2016. She is currently completing a four-year doctoral program as a student of Salus University’s George Osborne College of Audiology. As part of this program, Ms. Gable is completing a one-year audiology fellowship for her last year here at Hearing Resource Center and Ear, Nose & Throat and Facial Plastic Surgery Center of Fredericksburg. She will be specializing in audiological diagnostics including vestibular and electrophysiology, fitting and rehabilitation of adult hearing aids, and tinnitus treatment. Ms. Gable has previously interned at multiple medical office settings such as a private practice, a medical center hospital, and an Ear, Nose & Throat Center. She is an active member of the Student Academy of Audiology and has special interests in audiology such as: hearing aids, bone anchored hearing aids, diagnostic audiometry, vestibular and electrophysiology testing. Alissa enjoys traveling to new places, camping, and spending time with her family, friends, and pets.
